"This song is about a deep infatuation relationship I had where it was all encompassing – especially at the beginning. After a short time, I was convinced that I could not live without this girl. It’s scary when you get to that point – to realize how much power your partner has to make or break your world with their actions". By Small Ruin’s melodies have reached the edges of the earth as Bryan Mullis’ spontaneous travels and adventurous experiences became a staple of inspiration in his music. By Small Ruin is an anagram for Bryan Mullis, keeping his music and lifestyle as true to self as possible. Busking since high school, he has made his way across the country playing to anyone who listened. His talent and dedication lead to sharing the stage with artists like DAWES, WILD and Briston Maroney.
EZ REVIEW Here we are again. Another day, another dollar spent. Another drama, another dilemma. I’d consider going outside but this whole ugly COVID catastrophe has really put the car wash on fresh air. Then again, I probably wouldn’t go outside anyway considering how dangerous the polluted air is anyhow. Honestly, it seems like the only thing we’ve got to safely decorate our time is bestowed to us through broadcasted entertainment and commercial media. Seeing that Netflix sucks, our only option left is music. THAT'S OKAY because music is the best. Shit, it’s even better when the music is actually good.
Lucky for us, we’ve been blessed (once again) by our pal Bryan Mullis and his band By Small Ruin who has popped by with a family sized bucket of sound.
Bryan's new track Rolling Thunder will surely cure your isolation desolation and will strike a chord with anyone with a soft spot for sentimental love songs. Similar to Bryan's earlier musical endeavors, Rolling Thunder comes in thick with an upbeat rhythm which is lovingly paired with a captivating chord progression and dramatically poignant lyrics. Although the composition is moderately straight forward, it never reaches a point of monotony and instead aims towards a catchy hook which drives the musical landscape forward. As mentioned previously, Bryan's songwriting relies heavily on his mastered ability to lyrically communicate a poetic narrative and Rolling Thunder does not miss the mark here. If you're in the mood for love, light and positivity: look no further. Rolling Thunder is roaring. Your love was something much too heavy
My mind was shifty, hands unsteady
But I opened up, you broke my levee
And now I swear
I like what I see
Your arms wrapped 'round me like
Rolling thunder, rolling thunder
You come right over like rolling thunder
Sometimes I wonder how it happened
How someone like me could keep you laughing
Love letters on a paper napkin that you wrote
This thing is more than I could ever have imagined
And now I swear
Your eyes see through me
My heart on my sleeve
Time will tell
But I like what I see
Your arms wrapped 'round me like
Rolling thunder, rolling thunder
You come right over like rolling thunder
Rolling thunder, you cloud all others
Like rolling thunder, rolling thunder
When I'm with you that's all that matters
I love your moves, you got that swagger
Can't wait to get to the next chapter
Of this story book happy ever after
And now I swear
Your eyes see through me
My heart on my sleeve
Time will tell
But I like what I see
Your arms wrapped 'round me like
Rolling thunder, rolling thunder
You come right over like rolling thunder
Rolling thunder, you cloud all others
Like rolling thunder, rolling thunder
